At the building permit unit, we work with permit applications, notifications, preliminary decisions, shoreline protection, and supervision matters, as well as conducting inspections in connection with constructions. We also have a team that handles housing adaptation grants and housing priorities. Currently, we are nearly 30 employees divided into different teams where we help and support each other. We are now looking for a colleague to join one of our building permit teams – could it be you?
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Do you want to help shape the future of Gävle? With us, you will work in an important authority role as part of building and digitization projects, with a strong focus on service and quality.
As a building permit officer/building inspector with us, you will be part of a knowledgeable and helpful building permit team. We work closely together and value good collaboration where we support each other in daily tasks both within the team and within the unit.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Working with digitization and system management within the building permit unit's processes, including the development and improvement of digital working methods and support for operational systems
- Processing building permits, notifications, preliminary decisions, and shoreline protection exemptions
- Conducting technical consultations, site visits, and final consultations
- Providing advice and guidance on building permit issues, often in early stages
The role involves a high degree of independence, and many decisions are made by delegation. This means you must be structured, responsible, and confident in your assessments. Some cases you will present to the board.
Customer satisfaction is a major focus at the building permit unit. You will have many contacts, both internally and externally with entrepreneurs, private individuals, builders, consultants, and other authorities.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has:
- Good IT understanding and knowledge of digitization within the field
- Relevant education, such as a building engineer, building permit officer, architect, lawyer, or building conservator, or equivalent competence through experience
- Experience working as a building permit officer or building inspector
- Good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act (PBL)
Meritorious:
- Previous experience from the construction industry
- Experience working in a system management role is an advantage
A B driver's license is required for the position, as travel within the municipality is part of the job.
